Big Vinny
Big Vinny, a near 300-pound Hell's Angel, asked me to take his picture, which I did. A month later he cold-cocks me, and I get a black eye and a bloody and broken nose. I fought back, punching him — like hitting one of those enormous sides of beef I'd seen stacked together in the meat district. He swung at me again but missed. I tried to throw him down but couldn't. He laughed, nervously. I landed a punch to his midsection that failed to elicit a grunt. We wrestled like dancers while a crowd of Angels gathered around us. Then a bunch of them are pulling us apart, the blood streaming from my nose. “Hey we get in a little fight then it's over,” Ginzo is saying. Vinny was through with me, for now. But, after this, the Angels seemed to treat me better, if not quite like one of them. At least they allowed me to take pictures more freely. When I asked Big Vinny why he hit me, he said: “For taking my picture.”
